A help fund for Ghana

In 1998 I was invited by the "Netherlands Management Cooperation Program" (NMCP) to visit Ghana during a three week period. I was instantly touched by this country. I discovered that Ghana still has what we lost: respect and taking the time for one another. But also kindness. In The Netherlands there is also poverty. We are wealthy in a more material way, but like that farmer in Spain once said "We have gained a lot, but lost the most important thing namely each other". This realisation changed my life. It changed the way I looked at life in The Netherlands and the West in general. What can one do in three weeks. Not that much. Back in the Netherlands I decided to establish a foundation "the Municipal Action Foundation" (named after the Ghanese organization for which I worked as a consultant during my three weeks stay) which was to manage a fund. The country cried out for help, especially in the rural areas. The primarily goal of the fund was to loan women with small-scale businesses money so they had the means to finance small projects, says to Hans Zonneveld, chairman of the Foundation.

New name for the foundation
With the creation of this site we have decided to change our name from "Municipal Action Foundation" into "Ghana-Support". This could explains why people who already know us, will now see us under a different name. From now on "MAF Ghana-Holland" is called "Ghana-Support"!

Mission
The improvement of living conditions of people in rural areas of the Volta region in Ghana. The focus lies on the following areas: health, education, housing, small-scaled businesses and sustainable development.
